Exercise 3: second conditional (if clause type 3)
(Practise and test your skills in using conditional clauses)
Second conditional (if clause type 2) – cloze test (difficulty: 3 of 5 – medium)
Fill the gaps with the appropriate forms of the verbs in brackets so that a meaningful if sentence type 2 (second conditional) results. For this, you need either the past simple or the present conditional simple. Do not use any short or contracted forms for the gaps.
- Example: “Mr Thompson ____ his car if he ____ the time.” (wash, have) → “Mr Thompson would wash his car if he had the time.”
